CHRISTMAS IN GHANA

I have so far spent two Christmases in Ghana. We brought together the children who  had the operation for a joint celebration – they came from different parts of the country and spoke about their new lease of life. Their modesty and gratitude left a lasting impression on me. No present, however nicely wrapped, can match the joy, a joy of Christmastide which I felt deep down inside.

Every child is precious, a gift of God.

In the villages in Ghana, Christmas dinner is shared with one’s neighbours and with those who do not have enough to eat. People invite one another to share in the joy of Christmas, which is also expressed through much music and dancing. Shared joy is a double joy. No one is lonely in Ghana ………..

As in Austria, the festivities climax in the walk to church and the festive Midnight Mass.

MY BEST WISHES FOR A BLESSED CHRISTMAS!
